Ellen Meloy’s The Anthropology of Turquoise was one of two finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in general nonfiction, a Los Angeles Times Book of the Year, and winner of the Utah Book Award and Banff Mountain Book Award. She is also the author of The Last Cheater’s Waltz and the recipient of a Whiting Writers Award. Raven’s Exile, her account of living on Utah’s Green River, won the admiration of readers and river lovers everywhere. Meloy, who died suddenly in 2004, lived in southern Utah.
