Larry Woiwode’s books include What I’m Going to Do, I Think; Beyond the Bedroom Wall; Indian Affairs; Silent Passengers; and the memoir What I Think I Did. He is a Guggenheim and Lannan Fellow, and his short fiction has been collected in four volumes of Best American Short Stories. He has received the Aga Khan Prize, the William Faulkner Foundation Award, the John Dos Passos Prize, and the Award of Merit Medal for “Distinction in the Art of the Short Story” from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, among other awards, and in 1995 he was named poet laureate of North Dakota. He has lived in southwestern North Dakota for twenty-seven years, where, with his wife, Carole, and their family, he raises registered quarter horses.
