Michael Collier

About

Michael Collier is the author of five books of poems, The Clasp and Other Poems, The Folded Heart, The Neighbor, The Ledge, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and most recently Dark Wild Realm. He has received Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Arts, and Thomas Watson fellowships. Michael Collier has taught for many years at the University of Maryland. In 1994 he was appointed the sixth director of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and in 2001 poet laureate of Maryland.
