pouroff

It’s an easy hike to Burro Mesa Pouroff at the head of a narrow box canyon in Big Bend National Park, located in west Texas. Water from rainstorms has cut a channel into the cliff at the head of the canyon and thus has created a pouroff. Pouroff is also a term used by ranchers in the central Colorado Plateau to indicate a rock nickpoint where occasional runoff pours over the edge into a plunge pool below. Water falling over a pouroff can be sporadic, from none to little to torrents, depending on the amount of rainfall or meltwater in the area.
